.: AGREEMENT FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF GWADAR RESOURCE CENTRE

12th April, 2007 an agreement has been signed between Government of Balochistan and Harbor Resource Centre (UAE based company) through which the company will establish a resource centre in Gwadar with the investment of 3.2 Billion Dollar. Director General of Harbor Resource Centre Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al-Nahyan said that “the aim of Gwadar Resource Centre is to provide logistic cooperation and technical services in the fields of Gas and Oil not only to Pakistan but to all GULF Countries”.More he said that it would be the 5th largest centre of the world to provide services in the above said fields and will be completed till the year 2014 BC. The managing Director of Harbor Resource Centre said that “Ten thousand people will be employed through this project. In the mid of Pasni and Gwadar a new city will be established consisting of 50,000 of population, providing all the facilities like Shopping Mall, Hotel, Parks and University etc. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al-Nayhan showed his satisfaction by the government at the question of safety and security.
“Arrangements Sheikh Umer Farooq said the government of Balochistan will initially provide 2000 Acres of land and will enhance it to 20000 Acres later on. Sheikh Umer also said that he has decided to set up an electric power plant to introduce a new technology of solar energy for rural areas.
   
.: PROVISION OF AID AND ANTIQUES FOR GWADAR MUSEUM

5th January, 2009. Oman has handed over several antiques like weapon(Gun), Shield, Knife and antique jewelry to government of Pakistan and a cheque of USD 20000/- for the renovation of Gwadar Museum established in Gwadar castle. The ambassador of Oman Mr. Muhammad Alwati handed over all these things to Secretary of culture in a meeting in Islamabad. The Government of Pakistan has also decided to shift all the antiques provided by the Shahi Tump and Murree Qalaat which are in the custody of Historical department of government of Sindh in Karachi. Now a days Gwadar Castle is in Police custody and it is assumed within next three months Gwadar Museum will be inaugurated after the renovation. The provincial government is also demanding to get the land to construct a Museum in provincial capital of Balochistan. projects.
   
.: WHEAT UNLOADING ACCELERATES AT GWADAR

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13: The unloading of the second shipment of 590,000 tons of imported wheat started in Gwadar from Friday and is likely to end by March 5. Additional Secretary Ministry of Food and Agriculture Shahid Hussain Raja said that a ship, carrying 40,000 tons anchored at the port on Friday morning and it is being transported to Sindh. He said that another ship, carrying 15,000 tons of wheat, sent by the World Food Programme would arrive on Saturday, adding that another shipment of same weight would reach the port on March 7.
Mr Hussain said that the WFP had borrowed 30,000 tons of wheat from Pakistan last year. Five more ships carrying wheat are expected to arrive at Gwadar port on Feb 16, 21, 22 and 25 and March 5.
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has made the imports at average price of $230 per ton mostly from Russia, Brazil and Ukraine, Raja said. Regarding the quality of imported wheat he claimed that the wheat has 25 per cent average gluten content. Tenders for this import were floated in December last and Letters of Comfort (LCs) were opened in January, he added.
He said that a Letter of Comfort had been opened for another 272,000 tons of wheat and arrivals for the third lot would begin from March 15.
He said that the food ministry had already made disbursement plan for 800,000 tons and the remaining 100,000 tons would be stored at the TCP warehouses.
The government has completed imports of 1.7 million tons of wheat. He said that the private sector had imported some 250,000 tons of wheat up to Feb 1.
Describing position of available stock of wheat, he said as on February 13, the Punjab had 1.1 million tons, Sindh 50,000 tons, NWFP 184,000 tons and Balochistan 65,000 tons.
He pointed out that fresh arrival of 40,000 tons of wheat would significantly boost stocks in Sindh.
The existing wheat stocks would be enough to meet the country’s consumption needs up to March 31 and till then the new crop would start arriving in the market, he said.
Wheat procurement would start from March 1 in Sindh and from April 1 in the Punjab, he said and added the country was expecting bumper crop of 25 million tons.

President Musharraf said Pakistan-China friendship is all weather and time-tested and expressed the hope that it would flourish with the passage of time. The president expressed the hope that the volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan and China will reach $15 billion from the existing $5 billion after the signing of a free trade agreement (FTA).
   
Construction of New Gwadar Airport to Commence this Year

The construction of new Gwadar International Airport will be completed in two years from the start of work which is expected to commence this year, said Minister of State for Interior, Zafar Iqbal Warraich. During question hour in the Senate Thursday, he said for the purpose federal government has released funds of Rs.1050 million for acquisition of land measuring 6500 acres.
   
Warehouses planned in Gwadar

The Balochistan government has allotted land for the construction of warehouses in Gwadar and directed the authorities concerned to complete construction work along with all required facilities before making the Gwadar port operational.
